KL Rahul has emerged as a standout wicket-keeper since the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, showcasing astute decision-making throughout the global tournament in India.
In the recent India vs South Africa ODI series, leading an inexperienced Indian side, Rahul played a crucial role in successful DRS calls during the third and final game.
Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar commended Rahul for his captaincy and emphasized the excellence in his glove work, stating, “He has been sensational behind the stumps. Even his DRS calls are always right.”
Standing alongside Manjrekar, former veteran Indian cricketer, known as little master, Sunil Gavaskar humorously proposed renaming DRS as the “KL Rahul Review System.”
India secured victory in the series with a 78-run win over South Africa in the series deciding 3rd ODI in Paarl, clinching the series 2-1 after winning the first match convincingly but lost the 2nd match.
Arshdeep Singh’s four-wicket haul contributed to bowling out the Proteas for 218 while earlier, Sanju Samson’s maiden ODI century powered India to a total of 296 runs for the loss of 8 wickets on a pitch which was difficult to bat on.
