SKY reacts to comparisons with Michael Bevan

When a journalist asked SKY as to how he felt about being compared with Bevan, the batsman was quick to talk down the comparison. He said, “Sir let me be Suryakumar Yadav…with difficulty have played 5-7 games for India but yes I am trying, whichever number I get to bat, and can win the team from any situation, so that will be my effort. Even if I bat first, I will do the same things, I will try to express and be fearless as I always am.”

The Mumbai cricketer holds an important role in the limited-overs team

SKY actually started his India career as an option in the top order. However, in the recent games, the Mumbai Indians batter has been playing mostly at No.4 and below. With the return of KL Rahul for the second ODI, it is certain that SKY would further go down the order. However, it is an opportunity for him to cement his place in the XI.

India has been struggling to fill the No.6 position, which is designated for a finisher. India has not done well with this position in recent years. Many players were tried but none of them could actually survive the pressure that comes with the responsibilities. Although it is still a start, SKY has shown that he can do well in this slot. It also appears that the management is backing him.
