T20 World Cup 2021: Youngest and Oldest players in Super 12 teams

The ICC T20 World Cup 2021 is currently taking place in the United Arab Emirates and Oman. After the Round 1 of the tournament, where four teams, namely Ireland, Netherlands, Papua New Guinea and Oman were eliminated, the Super 12 matches are happening right now.

The 12 teams participating in this round are India, Pakistan, Namibia, Scotland, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Australia, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Bangladesh, England and West Indies. Squads for all teams had already been announced. In this listicle, we will look at the youngest and oldest players in squads of the Super 12 teams.

1. Sri Lanka – Dinesh Chandimal and Maheesh Theekshana

Experienced batter Dinesh Chandimal is the oldest cricketer in the Sri Lankan squad, aged 31 years and 296 days. Spinner Maheesh Theekshana is the youngest, aged 21 years and 40 days.

2. Namibia – Craig Williams and Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton

37-year-old Craig Williams is the oldest cricketer in the Namibian T20 World Cup squad. Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton, aged 20 years and 179 days, is also present in the same team.

3. Afghanistan – Mohammad Nabi and Rahmanullah Gurbaz

Mohammad Nabi is the captain of the Afghanistan cricket team. He is also the oldest player in the team, aged 36 years and 251 days. Meanwhile, Rahmanullah Gurbaz is the youngest player in all teams in T20 World Cup 2021. He is the only player aged 19.

4. Bangladesh – Mahmudullah and Shoriful Islam

Another team whose captain is the oldest player is Bangladesh. Mahmudullah, aged 35 years and 217 days is the oldest, while Shoriful Islam, aged 20 years and 98 days, is the youngest name.

Another team having the oldest player as its captain is England. Eoin Morgan, aged 34 years and 364 days is the oldest, whereas Tom Curran, aged 26 years and 181 days, is the youngest England player.

6. South Africa – Rassie van der Dussen and Wiaan Mulder

South Africa’s oldest player is their star batter Rassie van der Dussen, who is 32 years old. All-rounder Wiaan Mulder, aged 23 years and 202 days, is the youngest.

7. Scotland – Kyle Coetzer and Brad Wheal

Yet another team with the captain as its oldest player is Scotland. 37-year-old Kyle Coetzer leads the team, while 25-year-old Brad Wheal is the youngest Scot player in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

8. New Zealand – Todd Astle and Glen Phillips

Interestingly, New Zealand’s oldest squad member is Todd Astle, who is 34 years and 319 days old. The youngest player in the Kiwi T20 World Cup 2021 team is Glen Phillips, aged 24.

9. West Indies – Chris Gayle and Oshane Thomas

Chris Gayle is the oldest player in the entire T20 World Cup 2021 tournament. He is 41 years and 353 days old. Fast bowler Oshane Thomas, aged 24, is the youngest in the Caribbean squad.

10. India – Ravichandran Ashwin and Rahul Chahar

India’s youngest and oldest players are spin bowlers. Ravichandran Ashwin, aged 35 is the oldest, while 22-year-old Rahul Chahar is the youngest.

11. Pakistan – Mohammad Hafeez and Mohammad Wasim

Seasoned pro Mohammad Hafeez is above 40 and still playing brilliantly for Pakistan in ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Mohammad Wasim is the oldest player in the Pakistan squad, aged 20.

12. Australia – Daniel Christian and Josh Inglis

Uncapped player Josh Inglis, aged 26, is the youngest name in the Australian squad. All-rounder Daniel Christian, aged 38, is the oldest player.
