Opting to bat first after Netherlands captain Scott Edwards’ decision, the Kiwis posted a formidable total of 322/7 in their allotted 50 overs. Notable contributions came from Will Young (70 off 80), Rachin Ravindra (51 off 51), and Tom Latham (53 off 46), all achieving half-centuries.

In response, the Netherlands faced early setbacks, finding themselves at 67/3 after 16.4 overs, with Vikramjit Singh (12 off 20), Max O’Dowd (16 off 31), and Bas de Leede (18 off 25) dismissed.

Trent Boult played a pivotal role in De Leede’s dismissal, taking an astonishing catch at long-off. Boult’s athleticism allowed him to leap to full height, catch the ball, and release it before crossing the boundary, completing a spectacular catch.

After De Leede’s departure, Colin Ackerman put up a valiant fight for the Netherlands with his 69 (73), including five boundaries. However, despite contributions from Captain Scott Edwards (30 off 27) and Sybrand Engelbrecht (29 off 34) lower down the order, it wasn’t enough to secure victory.

Consequently, the Netherlands was bowled out for 223 in 46.3 overs, with Mitchell Santner taking 5/59 in ten overs, and Boult conceding 34 without any wickets in eight overs.

Looking ahead, New Zealand aims to maintain their winning momentum as they prepare to face Bangladesh on Friday, October 13, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. In contrast, the Netherlands, seeking their first win, will take on South Africa on Tuesday, October 17, at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.
