Dinesh Karthik has been going through a tough time at the ongoing T20 World Cup in Australia. The Indian wicketkeeper is yet to make an impact with the bat. In 4 games so far, he has managed to score only 14 runs, with 7 being his highest score.
To make things worst, he was given out in a controversial decision against Bangladesh on Wednesday (November 2). On the last ball of the 17th ball, he found himself getting run out at the non-striker’s end. However, the replay showed that the ball slipped from the hands of Shoriful Islam.
It seemed like maybe Islam’s hands dislocated the bails before the ball could even hit. But the third umpire felt the ball hit the stumps first and hence, he showed out on big screen. Dinesh Karthik departed for just 7 off 5 deliveries including a four.
The dismissal sparked another controversy on the social media. While many people defended umpire’s decision, many felt that the decision was wrong. They expressed their sympathy for Karthik, who is under immense pressure to perform. Or else, Rishabh Pant might get the go in the XI.
