Australian fast bowler Brett Lee is undoubtedly one of the greatest pacers of all time. The right-arm fast bowler had made a name for himself with his smooth action, run-up, pace, swing and celebrations. The upcoming fast bowlers idolized his as their role model and a lot have achieved success following the footsteps of Lee.
Although he was one of the most celebrated cricketers, his career had come to a disappointing end. The fast bowler had turned up for Sydney Sixers in the 2014-15 Big Bash League where his team played the final against Perth Scorchers. The match had gone down to the wire and is remembered as the most thrilling final in BBL history.
Lee had the responsibility of defending 8 runs in his 6 deliveries but unfortunately, the Perth batsman Michael Carberry hit a boundary on the very first ball. The batsmen then ran a couple of runs before taking a single on the third ball. The equation came down to 1 run off 3 deliveries.
The fast bowler’s career seemed to have a lowly end however, he fired two fast deliveries straight onto the stumps of Nathan Coulter Nile and Whiteman to send Perth on the backfoot. With 1 needed off 1 ball, Lee was on a hat-trick.
The commentators felt that this would be the best end to Lee’s career. He bowled the next delivery to perfection and it was stopped inside the 30 yards circle by the fielders. Yet a silly error from Moises Henriques ensured that Lee ends his career on the losing side. This moment is by far the most heartbreaking one for any cricket fan because everyone has followed the legend of Brett Lee.
