There was a time when Bhuvneshwar Kumar was India’s go-through bowler in the white-ball format. He was the leader of the Indian bowling attack in ODIs and T20Is. He made a deadly bowling combo with Jasprit Bumrah. But since the 2022 T20 World Cup, he has been completely sidelined by the management.

The veteran pacer is known as one of the best exponents of swing bowling and has also developed a brilliant yorker over the years. He won many matches for India with his brilliant bowling. Notably, Bhuvi is India’s second-highest wicket-taker in the shorter format.

He has taken 90 wickets in 86 T20I innings at an economy rate of 6.96, which is brilliant for a bowler who bowls in the powerplay. Apart from that, he is also the only Indian bowler to take two five-wicket hauls in T20 internationals. However, it seems that the Indian management has moved on to the young bowlers after considering the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Though it might be the end of the road for the veteran pacer, he hasn’t stopped delivering with the new ball. Bhuvi is currently playing in the inaugural edition of the UPT20 League and representing the Noida Super Kings, captained by Nitish Rana.

The veteran pacer delivered a brilliant spell of 2/16 in the opening match of the season against the Kanpur Superstars. His spell helped his team register a 16-run win. He dismissed the 19-year-old UP batter, Sameer Rizvi, with a peach of a delivery. It pitched on the off stump and swung in to take the off stump of the batter, and Bhuvi took his first wicket.

The ongoing UPT20 League is run by the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association. This will be played between August 30 and September 16. All the games in this competition will take place in Kanpur at the Green Park Stadium. This league also has the likes of Rinku Singh, Dhurv Jurel, Mohsin Khan, and Shivam Mavi.
