In an effort to even the five-match series by defending a total of 153 runs against the hosts, Ishan Kishan, the Indian cricket team’s wicketkeeper, exhibited his skills behinds the stumps. Ishan attempted a stumping reminiscent of MS Dhoni’s style against West Indies captain Rovman Powell. However, the decision ultimately favored the batsman.

During the run-chase, West Indies encountered a setback with the loss of three quick wickets, allowing their captain Rovman Powell to step onto the crease early. Interestingly, the Indian team had a chance to take another wicket by dismissing Powell during the seventh over of the innings.

Displaying keen awareness, the Indian keeper patiently allowed Powell to slightly move his leg from the crease, which eventually happened. Unfortunately, Kishan’s timing was slightly off, as he removed the bails a moment after the West Indies skipper had already landed his feet on the crease.

It’s worth mentioning that Ishan Kishan’s inspiration, the iconic former Indian captain MS Dhoni, was well-known for executing such stumpings.

Dhoni’s strategic prowess behind the stumps was exemplified in instances like winning a crucial match for Team India against Bangladesh during the 2016 T20 World Cup, thanks to his sharp instincts.

Additionally, Dhoni has demonstrated his skills in stumping multiple times throughout his career, one of them also would be back in the 2013 Champions Trophy final when he stumped Ian Bell in a similar fashion. This particular match, which went down to the last over, resulted in a victory for Team India.
