The Asia Cup 2023 edition has officially begun in Pakistan’s Multan Cricket Stadium where the hosts are currently taking on visiting side Nepal in the opening match of the tournament.
It was Pakistan captain Babar Azam who won the toss and opted to bat first. Both the openers Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq couldn’t make big contribution to the scorecard as the former was dismissed for 14 runs while the latter scored only 5 runs.
After both the openers went back to pavilion for the score of just 25 runs, captain Babar Azam and wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan started to steady the ship and build a partnership.
The duo were looking good after having adding a 86 runs partnership. But then the biggest calamity happened. Rizwan suffered a brain fading moment as he was hilariously run out.
After hitting to the cover point region of the 4th ball of the 24th over, Nepali fielder executed a brilliant direct hit and Rizwan was sent back to pavilion. However, what is more interesting is that, Mohammad Rizwan never really tried to ground the bat and he was trying to take evasive action when he saw the ball right towards his way.
