Seventh-ranked team The West Indies stunned No. 1-ranked T20I team India. They thrashed the visitors in the fifth and final game on Sunday to clinch the five-match series 3-2. It was the first time that India lost a five-match T20I series in history.

Heading into the fifth game, India were the favorites, but Brandon King and Nicholas Pooran made sure that the West Indies were winning the game comprehensively. Chasing the target of 166 runs, the hosts made 171/2 and won the game by 8 wickets and 12 balls to spare.

King became the Man of the Match for his brilliant unbeaten knock of 85 off 55 balls, including five fours and six sixes. Pooran, who ended the series as the highest scorer and made a 35-ball 47 in the final game, was named Player of the Series.

Notably, after the win, Pooran wasn’t able to attend the post-match ceremony as he had to catch a flight. He even didn’t collect his award, and it was Rovman Powell who collected on his behalf. However, Pooran was active on social media and shared a cryptic message taking a dig at Team India and Hardik Pandya.

He shared a video clip on his Instagram handle with Akeal Hosein. Pooran was seen making a gesture of “‘zipping up the mouth” in the video and captioned it with, “If you know you know.” On the other hand, after the end of the 3rd T20I, Hardik Pandya made the comment, “If Nicky wants to hit me, let him hit me.”

It seems it backfired on him, as Pooran smashed him for two consecutive sixes in the third over of the chase. However, it wasn’t a great series for the Indians, as there were a number of opportunities that they missed. All those cost them the series. Now, Team India will play three T20Is against Ireland, starting on August 18.
