Watch: Ravi Ashwin’s TNPL teammate imitates Suryakumar Yadav, hits a wide delivery over fine leg boundary despite falling awkwardly

T20 cricket is probably the most popular form of the game. It is because fans love watching players hit sixes and boundaries. On the other hand, rather than conventional hitting, fans also love to watch batters play unorthodox shots, just like AB de Villiers, Suryakumar Yadav, and Glenn Maxwell used to do.

It is why it is very hard to ball such batters, who can hit the ball anywhere they like. One such shot was played in the ongoing Tamil Nadu Premier League 2023 in a game between Chepauk Super Gillies and Dindigul Dragons during the 11th game of the tournament at NPR College Ground.

It happened on the second ball of the 11th over of the first inning when Dindigul were batting. It was C Sarath Kumar who was batting, and Rocky Bhasker bowled a wide delivery outside off-stump. The batter tried to hit the ball for a sweep, but the bowler changed the length.

But the batter didn’t change his shot and played the sweep with full force despite falling over. The connection was brilliant, and the ball went for a boundary. It almost cleared the fence, and with the unreal timing Sarath had.

Speaking of the game, batting first, Dindigul Dragons scored 170/9 in the first inning. Adithya Ganesh was the top scorer with 44, while Sarath also played a decent knock of 25, and with the cameo of 31 off 13 by Suboth Bhati, Dindigul finished on a high.

It was a challenging target to chase. In response, Chepauk Super Gillies had a 72-run partnership for the third wicket between Baba Aparajith (74 off 40) and skipper N Jagadeesan (37 off 36). But as soon as that partnership was broken, they lost their way. In reached 169/9 in their chase and fell short by just one run. Needing 12 runs off the last over, Chepauk only made 10 and lost three wickets.
