Shikhar Dhawan funnily reveals Rishabh Pant’s reaction to KL Rahul’s stumping in 2nd ODI
The India vs Australia ODI series is currently underway with the Men in Blue being the hosts of the series. Australia had won the first match by 10 wickets hence, the Indian team was under pressure to deliver the goods in the second match.
They once again lost the toss as Australia invited them to have a bat first. The wicket at Rajkot was fantastic for batsmen as the move of the Aussie skipper backfired. Fifties from KL Rahul, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan guided India to a 300+ total. At one stage, it even looked like India would reach the 350 runs landmark.
However, Australia kept them down to 340 runs. Chasing 341 runs in 50 overs, Australia got off to a decent start with the contributions of Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne and Aaron Finch. Unfortunately, though the Aussie team could not win the match.
During this match, the Indian batsmen and bowlers won the hearts of the fans but the new star who emerged from this match was KL Rahul. The Karnataka-born batsman stole the show behind the wicket with his stumping.
Even Shikhar Dhawan was very impressed with that stumping and he took note of that while chatting with Rahul in the post match interview. Rahul looked very happy as Dhawan revealed how Rishabh Pant would have reacted to that stumping.
In case you did not know, Rishabh Pant had picked up a concussion in the first ODI match. So, he did not get the chance of playing second ODI match. If he does not recover soon, he may lose his place in the team forever just like how Vijay Shankar disappeared from the international team after suffering an injury midway during the World Cup.
