Cricket is a funny game. There are many unpredictable things that happen in the sport regularly. However, there are some things that happen in cricket which stun even the die-hard fans of the game. Recently, in a local match played in Maharashtra, the on-field umpire shocked the fans with a very unique and weird gesture for a wide delivery.

Many fans of the cricket world would know that there are wide lines for a bowler in the pitch. So, if the bowler bowls a delivery outside the wide line, the umpire calls it an illegitimate delivery by raising his hands in a way that they form 180 degree angle. The bowler needs to bowl one more delivery, while the batting team gets one run in the form of extras.

In a recent club match played in Maharashtra, the bowler bowled a wide delivery, and instead of signaling a wide with his arms, the umpire decided to stand upside down on his head and signal a wide with his legs. This incident happened during the Purandar Premier League.

While the umpire here seems to be in a light mood, umpiring in general is a very tough job in cricket. In the recently-concluded India vs New Zealand Test series, fans witnessed many umpiring errors. Even the third umpire made a few mistakes, which made fans question the DRS system’s relevancy. Still, we must note that umpires are humans and like every human, they can commit mistakes as well.
