He had an average cricketing career for the New Zealand side, where he smashed 4000 runs and bagged 203 wickets from his quota of 250 ODI matches. He also featured in 23 Test matches for his home side.

After playing 81 Tests and 223 ODI matches for New Zealand, Nathan Astle decided to try his hands on the auto racing field after announcing his retirement in 2007.
Nathan even had a great show post his retirement career as he finished at the 3rd rank during the South Island Sprint Car Championship in 2010.
