Partnerships in the batting department put pressure on the opposition, especially if the scoring rate is high. Here’s a look at the list of highest stand for each wicket in the league’s history.

Highest 1st wicket partnership in IPL: Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul – 210 runs

Two years ago, Lucknow Super Giants openers Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul made history by batting for entire 20 overs against Kolkata Knight Riders. They finished with 210/0 in 20 overs.

Highest 2nd wicket partnership in IPL: Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers – 229 runs

Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers own the record for the biggest partnership in the league’s history. In 2016, they destroyed the Gujarat Lions by adding 229 runs for the second wicket for RCB.

Highest 3rd wicket partnership in IPL: Robin Uthappa and Shivam Dube – 165 runs

A rather surprising entry on this list is of CSK’s batting pair of Robin Uthappa and Shivam Dube. Two years ago, they had a 165-run third-wicket stand against RCB.

Highest 4th wicket partnership in IPL: Shimron Hetmyer and Gurkeerat Singh – 144 runs

Another former RCB pair to feature on the list is the duo of Shimron Hetmyer and Gurkeerat Singh. In a dead rubber game against SRH in 2019, they added 144 runs for the fourth wicket.

Highest 5th wicket partnership in IPL: Shakib Al Hasan and Yusuf Pathan – 134 runs

Kolkata Knight Riders’ elite all-rounders Shakib Al Hasan and Yusuf Pathan united forces to torment the Gujarat Lions in 2016. They had an unbeaten 134-run stand for the fifth wicket.

Highest 6th wicket partnership: Kieron Pollard and Ambati Rayudu – 122 runs

In the second ‘Go Green’ match of RCB, Mumbai Indians’ pair of Kieron Pollard and Ambati Rayudu had a fantastic stand of 132 runs. It guided MI to a memorable win at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Highest 7th wicket partnership: Harbhajan Singh and J Suchith – 100 runs

Another MI pair to make its presence felt on this list is Harbhajan Singh and J Suchith. The right hand-left hand pair added 100 runs in a losing cause against Punjab Kings in 2015.

Highest 8th wicket partnership: Ayush Badoni and Arshad Khan – 73 runs

Lucknow Super Giants have only been a part of three seasons, but they already feature twice here. Last night against Delhi Capitals, Ayush Badoni and Arshad Khan added 73 runs for the eighth wicket, but LSG still lost.

Highest 9th wicket partnership: Rashid Khan and Alzarri Joseph – 88 runs

Rashid Khan went berserk and destroyed the Mumbai Indians bowlers last year at Wankhede Stadium. Playing for Gujarat Titans, he added 88 runs with Alzarri Joseph for the ninth wicket, but GT still ended up losing.

Highest 10th wicket partnership: Shikhar Dhawan and Mohit Rathee – 55 runs

Shikhar Dhawan played a knock for the ages for Punjab Kings against Sunrisers Hyderabad last year. When nine wickets fell, Dhawan joined hands with new player Mohit Rathee to guide the team from 88/9 to 143/9.
