Mumbai Indians will play their next IPL 2024 match against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Bharat Ratna Shree Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium. It is a virtual do-or-die encounter for MI, who sit ninth in the standings after losing against the Delhi Capitals in a run-fest last Saturday evening.

The five-time champions need to quickly figure out their best combination because another defeat may almost end their chances of qualifying for the IPL 2024 playoffs. The pitch in Lucknow helps the bowlers a bit. Considering how badly the MI bowlers have performed in this season, the think tank would like to make some changes.

Although the overseas rule of IPL allows every team to use a maximum of four players, MI should think out of the box and go for more Indian talent in the team. Here’s a look at the two changes which MI should make to beat LSG in Lucknow.

    1. Mumbai Indians should bring Arjun Tendulkar in for Luke Wood

Arjun Tendulkar made his debut for Mumbai Indians last season. He did a decent job with his left-arm pace, and perhaps, it’s time for the MI think tank to give him his first opportunity in IPL 2024. He can share the new ball with Jasprit Bumrah or Hardik Pandya to trouble the LSG batters in Lucknow.

    2. Kumar Kartikeya in for Nuwan Thushara

There was a lot of hype surrounding Sri Lankan pacer Nuwan Thushara when he was selected in the IPL 2024 Auction. Some fans even dubbed him as Malinga 2.0 for the Mumbai Indians. However, he has not been able to match the expectations this season.

Kumar Kartikeya was among the few match-winners that MI had in IPL 2022. Since the Lucknow wicket may help the spinners a little, it would be a wise move to have Kartikeya in for Thushara.
