Making the international debut is the dream of every cricketer who takes up the sport professionally. The sport of cricket has gained a lot of popularity in the last few years, and there are more cricketers on earth right now than they were ever before in any era. One of the main reasons behind the growth in the sport’s popularity is the introduction of T20 leagues.
More and more nations are forming their own T20 leagues, attracting top-tier cricketers from different parts of the world. Nations like United Arab Emirates and Canada, which do not have a top-ranked team in ICC Rankings, have their own global leagues which are better than the leagues of some Test-playing nations.
A sizable number of cricketers have prioritized leagues over international cricket these days, but no one can take away the significance of representing the nation at the highest level. Interestingly though, there are two such cricketers in this world who made an appearance in a movie before making their international debut in cricket. Here’s a list of those two names:
1. Tagenarine Chanderpaul worked in Bollywood movie before international debut
Tagenarine Chanderpaul is the son of former West Indies batter Shivanarine Chanderpaul. Shivnarine will always be remembered for his unique stance, and the way he tormented the bowlers despite having an unorthodox technique.
His son Tagenarine Chanderpaul is a specialist batter as well. He made his Test debut in the ongoing Test match between the West Indies cricket team and the Australian cricket team. Chanderpaul worked in the Bollywood movie ’83’. He played the character of former West Indies cricketer Larry Gomes.
2. Dane Vilas
