IPL 2025 will have a mega auction. It means that BCCI has a chance to add new teams as well if needed. There are 10 teams in the tournament right now, but the craze of the league is across India, which is why there is always a demand for new franchises and the potential to grow another million-dollar business.
Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans joined the league in 2022, and they have already achieved a lot of success in the competition. There have also been some franchises, which are now defunct, like Rising Pune Supergiant and Gujarat Lions.
While Pune’s former owner now owns the Lucknow Super Giants franchise and Gujarat has its own team, the following two disbanded teams should return to the league in IPL 2025 if possible.
1. Deccan Chargers should make a comeback in IPL 2025
Deccan Chargers were the second team to win the IPL trophy. They had some legends like Adam Gilchrist, Andrew Symonds, RP Singh, Pragyan Ojha, Kumar Sangakkara, Cameron White, Dale Steyn, VVS Laxman and Rohit Sharma on their roster.
Fans haven’t forgotten the team or its theme song. Even in a recent interview, Adam Gilchrist and Rohit Sharma mentioned that it was the best theme song.
2. Kochi Tuskers Kerala
The state of Kerala has an extraordinary number of cricket fans, who just love the game. When Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson went for an event to Kerala, he received an incredible reception from the fans. There were rumors of Kochi Tuskers Kerala returning to IPL for the first time since 2011, but they proved inaccurate. Perhaps, they can return in 2025.
