India will host the ODI World Cup in 2023. It will be a massive occasion because the format is not in a great state and it needs a massive boost. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the final and the opening game. That said, there are a few iconic stadiums in the country that have hosted quite a few World Cup matches. On that note, here, we take a look at two Indian stadiums that have hosted the most ODI World Cup matches so far.
1) M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru – 7 Matches
The M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru has been home to some iconic games. Combining both the 1987 & the 2011 editions, till now, this venue has had 7 World Cup matches. It would have a few more games come the end of this year. India will play one of the qualified teams at this venue this year. Bengaluru has always been known to be a good ground for the batters. In this T20 era, almost every game has a batter or two dominating. Hence, there is a lot of entertainment in store.
2) MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai – 7 Matches
The Chepauk Stadium in Chennai is one of the Indian stadiums that have hosted the most ODI World Cup matches so far. The Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai has played host to 7 ODI World Cup games till now. India’s first game in the 2023 ODI WC will be against Australia and will happen here. A spinner’s paradise, India will hope for a good outing on this track.
