IPL 2022 is in the history books. The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League was quite an entertaining one. Only for the second time in the IPL history, there were 10 teams in the race to win the coveted championship. Debutants Gujarat Titans made history by qualifying for the final and defeating inaugural champions Rajasthan Royals to win their maiden title.

Several star players were a part of IPL 2022. However, some big names went unsold in that year’s mega auction as well. A few of them like Suresh Raina decided to take up commentary after going unsold. While Raina has now retired from the Indian Premier League, two other members of last season’s commentary panel have registered for the upcoming IPL 2023 Auction. Here’s a list of those two names:

    1. IPL 2022 commentator Dhawal Kulkarni

Indian fast bowler Dhawal Kulkarni was one of the internationally capped players who went unsold at last year’s mega auction. Kulkarni has an enormous amount of IPL experience under his belt as he has played for the Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals in the past.

The pace bowler is aiming to make a return to the league in the 2023 season. After a brief commentary stint with Star Sports last season, Kulkarni has set a base price of INR 50 lakh for the upcoming auction.

    2. Piyush Chawla

Indian leg-spin bowler Piyush Chawla is another player who worked as a commentator last season but is in the auction pool for the upcoming 2023 season. Chawla is a veteran leg-spinner who played for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2020 and Mumbai Indians in IPL 2021.

CSK bought him for a big price in 2020, but there were no matches at Chepauk in that season. Perhaps, Chennai may consider re-signing him because IPL returns to home and away format.
