Coming back after retiring is not a new thing in the game of cricket. In the past, we have seen some popular players like Shahid Afridi do that often. Even in India, the likes of Ambati Rayudu withdrew their retirement to play IPL again. However, it is interesting that in 2023 alone, we have seen two such cases concerning two teams in the Top 10. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two players who came back from retirement in 2023.

    1) Moeen Ali (Only Tests)

After Jack Leach got injured, England was in trouble because they did not have a frontline spinner. Last year, there were rumours that Moeen Ali would take back his Test retirement to tour Pakistan. However, that did not happen. That said, for the Ashes, the veteran all-rounder made the decision to withdraw his retirement. He got a place in the playing XI and has been doing well, collecting some key wickets.

    2) Tamim Iqbal

Tamim Iqbal is also one of the players on this list in 2023. The Bangladesh opener is the latest to join the list. In the ongoing Afghanistan ODI series, Tamim decided that he would retire. This is despite the World Cup happening in just a few months. It was a shocking decision because Tamim is still fairly young. However, just a day later, Tamim was convinced by the Bangladesh Prime Minister to take back his announcement. The opener, respecting the request, decided to withdraw his decision. He is now most likely to captain Bangladesh in the 2023 ODI World Cup.
