Initially, Fakhar’s knee injury had kept him out of the India game. Now, it has been reported that he will miss the full competition. He was a key factor for Pakistan in the tournament. In his absence, Pakistan batters have to step up and do well.
1) Kamran Ghulam could replace Fakhar Zaman against India
Kamran Ghulam is one of the players who could replace Fakhar Zaman for the Champions Trophy game against India. It could be an interesting option to have an all-rounder on the side. Some of the Indian batters have a weakness against left-arm spin. Since Pakistan does not have an option in this regard, they could opt to have Ghulam in the squad. The captain would then get more options to be dynamic with his bowling changes.
2) Imam-ul-Haq
As an opener, Babar Azam was not great against New Zealand. It is high time that comes back to his preferred No.3 slot. Also, Pakistan would need an aggressor in the powerplay. While Imam may not be the best option, now that he has been announced as Fakhar’s replacement, it is the wise choice to go with him as an opener.
