USA and Pakistan played out an incredible game in the T20 World Cup 2024 yesterday in Dallas. Both teams scored 159 runs each in their 20 overs, forcing the officials to decide the winner via a Super Over. Mohammad Amir lost his cool and ended up bowling three wides in the Super Over, allowing USA to finish with 18/1 although Aaron Jones managed just one boundary in six balls.
Chasing 19, Pakistan’s batters scored 13 runs in six balls and lost the Super Over by five runs. It was the first-ever T20 World Cup match between USA and Pakistan, and everyone expected the Men in Green to prevail over their inexperienced opponents, but the American team secured the win.
Not many fans would know that some of the players in the USA squad are not even full-time cricketers. Here’s a list of two such players.
1. Principle engineer Saurabh Netravalkar bowled the Super Over for USA vs Pakistan in T20 World Cup 2024
Saurabh Netravalkar took the responsibility of bowling the high-pressure Super Over against the Pakistan team. The left-arm pacer kept his nerve and conceded only 13 runs against Iftikhar Ahmed, Fakhar Zaman and Shadab Khan.
Netravalkar’s social media bio states that he is a full-time employee at Oracle, where he is a part of the principle technical team. He plays cricket part-time as a passion.
2. Nosthush Kenjige
Karnataka origin spinner Nosthush Kenjige played a major role in USA’s win by scalping a three-wicket haul in the 20-over match against the Men in Green. He was playing his first-ever T20 World Cup match, and he showed no nerves at all as USA completed a historic win in Dallas.
