1) Anrich Nortje

Anrich Nortje had an important role to play for South Africa in the 2023 ODI World Cup. He has played a lot in India and his attributes would work on many pitches in the country. However, Nortje had been injured for a while and has, therefore, been ruled out of the upcoming tournament. Sadly, in 2019, as well, the South African pacer suffered a similar fate. It now needs to be seen how the Proteas would go about in the absence of their talisman.

2) Jhye Richardson

Jhye Richardson is one of the players who were ruled out of both the 2019 and 2023 ODI World Cups due to injury. The Australian cricketer is very injury-prone and is missing a lot of cricket. For the 2019 ODI World Cup, he was initially named in the squad. However, an injury ruled him out and Kane Richardson came in his place. For the upcoming World Cup, as well, Jhye Richardson was in contention to be in the squad. However, a few weeks before the squad was named, an injury forced him out of the tournament. Australia has Sean Abbott as the fourth pacer in the team now. If Jhye had been available, he would have surely earned a spot.
