ICC’s rule to have just 10 Teams for the ODI World Cup means that some well-known associate nations would miss out on the event. This time around, even the West Indies would not take part in the event. On that note, here, we take a look at two popular players in ICC’s Top 10 ODI rankings who won’t play in the 2023 ODI WC.

Associate nations play a lot of ODIs when compared to the established nations. Hence, there is also a chance for them to improve their ratings. Unfortunately, though, the fans will not get to witness them later this year in India.

1) Sikandar Raza (Zimbabwe) – No.3 all-rounder in ICC’s ODI rankings

One of the best all-rounders in the game right now, Raza would be a massive miss at the ODI World Cup. He tried his best to put Zimbabwe in the World Cup but could not make it. It would have been his last ODI World Cup and it is disappointing that he might not play another one, considering his age and also if the format of the World Cup remains. Nevertheless, Raza would have a chance in the T20 World Cup next year to do well for his nation.

2) Harry Tector (Ireland) – No.6 batter in ICC’s ODI rankings

Harry Tector is one of the popular players in ICC’s Top 10 ODI rankings who won’t play in the 2023 ODI WC. One of the brightest young talents right now is Tector. Usually, the batting charts are dominated by popular cricketing nations. Putting himself on this list while hailing from Ireland is a big accomplishment for the youngster. Going forward, he will look to add more experience under his belt and probably help Ireland qualify for the World Cup next time around.
