The latest edition of IPL mega-auction will be fun as the teams have already written the right set of chapters with their own flurry of combinations in terms of retentions. To make it interesting, they have also kept a handful of RTM’s in their hand which clearly indicates the fact that they are still not done.
However, that is not the case with everyone. Two teams out of the ten wanted a fixed set of players to do them the honours and they have retained all the six players that they could. Here is a look at the two teams who have decided to all guns blazing in terms of retaining their core.
1. KKR
The defending champions have vested profound faith in their current set of players with six retentions done. They have chosen to keep the likes of Rinku Singh, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell and Varun Chakravarty amidst the capped players while the duo of Harshit Rana and Ramandeep Singh were retained as a part of the uncapped core. Narine’s electric all-round brilliance turned him into an unstoppable monster and KKR simply couldn’t show the heart to let him go.
Dre Russ has been a major nexus to wreak havoc in the center and he is also a handy bowler, especially with his slower variations. The presence of Ramandeep Singh is being rated highly too considering his all-round flair and his ability to accelerate at any point in time. Rinku Singh’s finishing prowess makes him a mainstay on any given day
2. RR
The Royals have also decided to retain a strong core which will allow them to navigate the cross-currents of uncertainty. RR has retained Sanju Samson, Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sandeep Sharma. It was surprising to see that they let go one of their finest in the form of Jos Buttler. However, they must have a specific set of plans that they want to go forth with.
With Sanju Samson being the captain, they will not have to look for a different leader in the mix. Dhruv Jurel has been an exciting option and will be hoping to bring forth simular form and fireworks. Hetmyer is a relentless striker of the ball and can change the game at any point in time. Sandeep Sharma got retained as an uncapped player due to the new tweak in the regs while Yashasvi Jaiswal is now one of the most fearless and best batters in Indian cricket.
