IPL has introduced a new rule which makes an Indian who has not played for India in the last five years an uncapped cricketer. Of course, he should not be on the BCCI contract list at the moment. Here, we take a look at the list of two veteran pacers who could be retained as uncapped players before IPL 2025.
MS Dhoni is the first name that comes to mind for this rule. However, it needs to be noted that there are some other teams other than CSK which will be interested in exercising this rule. We talk about the players in the below headings:
1) Sandeep Sharma
Sandeep Sharma came in as the replacement player for Prasidh Krishna in IPL 2023. He did not take much time to show his potential. He delivered mainly at the death and that was special from his side. His consistency was remarkable and there is no doubt that he could go for a big sum in IPL 2025 Auctions. RR must surely consider retaining him as they would get an experienced player for INR 4 Cr. Anyways, with the Impact Player Rule still there, he will still be useful for the side.
2) Mohit Sharma could be one of the uncapped players before IPL 2025
Mohit Sharma is one of the veteran pacers who could be retained as uncapped players before IPL 2025. The veteran spent IPL 2022 as a net bowler before he was picked up by Gujarat Titans for IPL 2023. He did really well in IPL 2023 and helped the team reach the finals. Although he was inconsistent in IPL 2024, he was still decent, especially with his variations. He could fetch more than INR 4 Cr and hence, GT can consider retaining him.
