While the focus is on T20Is and Tests now, soon, India will have an ODI challenge, as well. It will be interesting to see who gets picked in this squad. Here, we take a look at the list of three Asia Cup stars who could get selected in the Indian ODI squad for the Australia series.
India must keep an eye on the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa. A lot of these decisions could depend on whether Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli would continue or not.
1) Tilak Varma
Tilak Varma has proved his capabilities in the middle order. He is a fine cricketer, and he could slot in at any spot in the batting order. With India needing a left-hander in the middle, he could be a fine choice for the selectors.
2) Abhishek Sharma could be in the Indian ODI squad for the Australia series
Abhishek Sharma is at his peak right now. Especially if Rohit Sharma is not there, he is a no-brainer inclusion in the ODI side. Yashasvi Jaiswal is obviously the player ahead of him in the queue. Nevertheless, Abhishek could also gain some experience while interacting with the seniors.
3) Shivam Dube
Shivam Dube is a utility player, and this was proved in the Asia Cup 2025. On his day, he can give quite a few overs with the ball and under pressure, he can deliver with the bat, as well. India needs to prepare a backup for Hardik Pandya, and Dube fits the bill here. India could also choose Nitish Reddy for this role.
