While Delhi Capitals got the signing of KL Rahul at a steal, they did make a few errors at the auctions. Largely, it went unnoticed because the overall squad on paper was good. Here, we take a look at the list of three auction mistakes of the Delhi Capitals that went unnoticed by many.
It is a chance now for DC to make amends in the next auctions. They know their strengths and weaknesses, and that’s a good base for the management.
1) Not buying an accomplished Indian middle-order batter
DC hired KL Rahul as an opener at the start. Hence, it is strange that they did not go for an accomplished Indian middle-order batter. This would have resolved all their issues. A good No.4 candidate would have made the team have KL at the top despite Harry Brook not being there.
2) Investing a lot in the injury-prone T Natarajan is one of the auction mistakes of the Delhi Capitals
Everyone knew Nattu was coming from an injury. Hence, it is a bit surprising that the team went too far for him. Rather, the franchise could have invested in someone who could have contributed in the campaign.
3) Dushmantha Chameera as Starc’s replacement
It was always known that Starc might step out as he has to prepare for the WTC Finals. Keeping this in mind, DC must have got hold of a better backup instead of Chameera. The Sri Lankan has leaked runs, and the team has also not been able to use him in a good role. Hence, this was an error.
