Australian cricketers are rated highly in the IPL. No other country has so much dominance in the IPL. Every year, a few Aussies also manage to win the league. This time, it was Tim David and Josh Hazlewood. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three Australian cricketers who could be released before IPL 2026.
Nevertheless, with so much Aussie talent flowing through, a few underperformers are not given a long rope. Therefore, they could be released by their respective teams.
1) Aaron Hardie
Aaron Hardie did not play a single game for Punjab Kings. Hence, he is likely to be released. Also, the management had signed Mitchell Owen as the replacement for Maxwell. Hence, they could retain the in-form player and release Hardie. That said, it could also depend on his form in the BBL.
2) Glenn Maxwell could be released before IPL 2026
It could be curtains for Maxi in the IPL. It has been two hard seasons in the tournament. Considering his age, not many teams might want him on the squad, especially in his current IPL form. Hence, Maxi is on this list.
3) Jake Fraser-McGurk
Jake Fraser-McGurk is sitting on a high salary at DC. The franchise could get him back at a lower fee. DC might want someone like Ben Duckett and hence, JFM could have to be sacrificed.
