Virat Kohli has now retired from Tests. It will be a big gap for Team India. Especially for the player who is now going to operate at No.4, the challenge will be a tough one. On that note, we take a look at three Indian batters who could replace Virat Kohli at No.4.
India does have a lot of depth in this regard. However, both the management and the fans must ensure that the new No.4 is given time to settle into the role.
1) Shubman Gill
Shubman Gill is the new fulcrum of Team India. No.4 has always been occupied by the stalwarts, and Gill can be given this challenge. He is someone who can play a long inning, and in this regard, Gill can be a suitable player to operate. Sai Sudharsan could play at No.3 to replace Gill.
2) Rishabh Pant could replace Virat Kohli at No.4
Rishabh Pant is quite experienced to fill in the shoes of Virat Kohli. Both at home and in away games, Pant is India’s most important batter in the middle order. As seen before, he plays impactful knocks, and at No.4, India would want to have someone like the left-handed cricketer from Delhi.
3) Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer is growing in confidence, and it is the best time to give him a chance in Test cricket again. At least, at home, he is a good contender to bat at No.4. Iyer has all the necessary skills and experience to do the job well. Hence, he is on this list.
