Delhi Capitals are one of the most popular franchises in T20 leagues. The Delhi-based franchise came into existence in the year 2008, and at that time, they were known as the Delhi Daredevils. DD were among the Top 4 teams in the first two IPL seasons, but as the seasons passed, the team’s performances declined.
In 2019, the owners of the franchise rebranded it to Delhi Capitals. The Capitals have qualified for the playoffs in three of the four seasons which they have played. IPL 2022 was the only season where they missed out, and in that season also, a defeat in the last league stage match against Mumbai Indians was the reason behind their early exit.
Delhi Capitals now own franchises in UAE’s International League T20, named Dubai Capitals, and the South African league SA T20, named Pretoria Capitals. They don’t own a team in Abu Dhabi T10 League 2022, but some big names of DC squad are playing in the tournament. Here’s a list of those three names.
1. Delhi Capitals bowler Mustafizur Rahman
Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman joined Delhi in IPL 2022. The left-arm pacer was impressive and retained his place in the IPL 2023 squad. Rahman is playing for Team Abu Dhabi under Chris Lynn’s captaincy in Abu Dhabi T10.
2. Delhi Capitals bowler Anrich Nortje
Another overseas fast bowler from the Delhi team who has been playing in the T10 league is Anrich Nortje. The right-arm fast bowler is a part of the brand new Morrisville Samp Army franchise. He will play under Moeen Ali’s leadership.
3. Rovman Powell
West Indies player Rovman Powell is the captain of the Northern Warriors team in this league. Powell had a fantastic season with DC in IPL 2022 earlier this year. Former Indian cricket team pace bowler Abhimanyu Mithun also represents this franchise.
