England will defend their ICC T20 World Cup trophy next month in West Indies and USA. The defending champions have named their squad for the mega event, with wicketkeeper batter Jos Buttler set to lead the side once again. Ben Stokes is the biggest absentee from the squad, while even Jason Roy and Alex Hales’ names are missing.
Stokes, Hales and Roy aren’t playing in the IPL as well. Meanwhile, players like Buttler, Sam Curran, Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone and Will Jacks will be unavailable for the playoffs if their teams qualify in the IPL’s next round.

1. Mark Wood was pulled out of IPL 2024 by the England Cricket Board
The England and Wales Cricket Board knows that Mark Wood is their biggest game-changer with the ball. The right-arm pacer had a short stint with Lucknow Super Giants last season, and this year, he did not show up at all, with Shamar Joseph then joining LSG as a last-minute replacement signing.
2. Harry Brook
Harry Brook missed the IPL and the preceding Test series against India owing to personal reasons. The English batter was roped in by the Delhi Capitals this season, but he could not turn up for them. Brook has now made himself available for the mega event.
3. Jofra Archer
Jofra Archer did not put his name in the auction this year after a flop season with the Mumbai Indians last year. He was still recovering from his injury. Although he was in India, he did not register for IPL. He is now all set to make a comeback in the T20 World Cup.
