    The World Test Championship is one trophy that has eluded Team India. Yes, the men in blue have won the Test mace, but WTC counts more as a trophy now. India has reached the final twice and has lost on both the occassions. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three Indian-origin cricketers who have won the World Test Championship.

    Interestingly, a few players of Indian origin have already enjoyed the success of this competition. Till now, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa have won the tournament. It will be interesting to see who wins the tournament next.

    1) Ajaz Patel

    Ajaz Patel was the first Indian-origin player to win the WTC. The player, with roots in Mumbai, was a part of the New Zealand squad that defeated Team India at the Lord’s in 2021. Ajaz has been the mainstay in New Zealand’s spin department at the Test level for a while now. He has done well against India, as well.

    2) Keshav Maharaj is one of the Indian-origin cricketers who have won the World Test Championship

    Keshav was a part of the South African setup that defeated Australia recently. The left-arm spinner is the leader in the spin attack for South Africa in all formats. He is a quality cricketer who has also captained the side in the past. Keshav has been at his peak for a while now and South Africans will want him to do well in the next cycle, as well.

    3) Senuran Muthusamy

    Not many know that there was another cricketer of Indian origin has also won the WTC. Senuran was a part of the South African squad in the 2025 WTC Finals but was not in the playing XI. He traces his ancestry to Tamil Nadu in the southern part of India.
