New Zealand has been running riot in the ongoing Test series and as thing stand India has to win the third Test series to avert a mortifying whitewash at home.
However, if there is one thing that the fans have pointed out repeatedly about this Kiwi team is that there are not one but three Indian origin players which they absolutely love. Not only are the Black Caps making good use of them but have also rode high on their brilliance. Here are the three Indian origin players in the current New Zealand squad that is playing against India:
#1 Ajaz Patel
Ajaz Patel entered a very rare club in cricket when he claimed all ten wickets in a Test innings, paralleling the feat of Jim Laker and Anil Kumble.
His overall numbers in Test cricket have been equally impressive with 74 wickets from 35 innings which bowling at an economy rate of 3.19. From the 20 Tests that he has been a part of, he has registered two four-fers and four five-fers. Surprisingly, he also has a 35 with the bat which is his best knock in his otherwise murky numbers as a willowman.
#2 Rachin Ravindra
The 24-year-old batting all-rounder has been an absolute revelation for New Zealand. He has scored 919 runs at an average of 45.95 while already blasting two centuries and four half-centuries.
He was the key architect of the Kiwi domination in the first Test where he went onto score a brilliant 134 while following that up with an unbeaten 39. He also had an excellent 65 in the first innings of the second Test.
#3 Ish Sodhi
Ish Sodhi may not have been a part of the first two Tests that India played against New Zealand but he continues to be a major part of the Kiwi squad. He has claimed 57 wickets from 37 innings in Tests so far while scoring 546 runs from 29 innings until now.
Even albeit he is not a part of the Test team for a while now, yet his presence in the squad makes him a fine pick to watch out for.
