Team India lost the first test against South Africa by an innings and 32 runs. With that defeat, their hope of winning the first ever test series in South Africa was shattered. However, they can still level the series, but for that, India need to do well. The second test will start on January 3 in Cape Town.
The hosts had a bad performance with the bat and the ball. Apart from one or two players, All others failed badly. However, if India loses the second game as well, then surely there will be a few players who might be dropped from the coming five-match test series against England. Here we will talk about three players who might be dropped if they failed to perform in the second test.
3. Prasidh Krishna
Prasidh Krishna made his test debut in the first test in Centurion. But he had a horrible game and ended with 1/93, which was the second-most run conceded by an Indian bowler on his test debut. Though India might drop him in the second test, if he plays and fails again, he might not get another chance, at least in the test.
2. Shardul Thakur
Shardul Thakur has looked off-color in the last few test matches. He is unable to deliver in good conditions where the other bowlers are doing well. In the first test, he went for 1/101 and scored 26 runs with the bat. He will be playing the second test, but if he fails, he might not get a chance in the test series against England.
1. Shubman Gill
Not just in the first test against South Africa. Shubman Gill’s numbers in test cricket are below average. He has not scored even 1000 runs in 20 odd test matches. He scored 2 and 26 in the Centurion test. Gill will play the test, but in case he fails again, there are chance that he might not get a chance against England at home, and either Cheteshwar Pujara or Ajinkya Rahane will be back.
