Team India is eager to win an ICC trophy to end their decade-long title drought. They won their last ICC tournament in 2013, when MS Dhoni led the team to a Champions Trophy win in England. But since then, India has played numerous semi-finals and finals but has yet to win an ICC title.
However, India has tried a number of players in the last year or so, especially in the white-ball format. The upcoming 2023 ODI World Cup is scheduled to take place in India, so the management will look to stick with a certain set of players to prepare for the marquee event. But then, there were some players who were among the first-choice cricketers for India in the 2022 T20 World Cup but are not part of India’s white-ball plans anymore.

3. Dinesh Karthik
Veteran wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik made a stunning comeback into the Indian side after performing brilliantly in the IPL 2022 for Royal Challengers Bangalore. He made India’s T20I squad and also featured in the World Cup in Australia. He played four games and only scored 14 runs in three innings. Later, he got injured and never came back. Rishabh Pant replaced him. Since then, DK hasn’t made the squad, and it seems that we have already seen the last of Dinesh Karthik in Indian kit.
2. Deepak Hooda
Deepak Hooda made a promising appearance on the Indian team in 2022 and played a number of white-ball games for India. With some of his brilliant performances, many believed that he was ready to replace Virat Kohli at No. 3. He was also part of the Indian squad in T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia but didn’t get a chance to play. But since then, he has been sidelined from the team’s selection. One of the main reasons is that after the IPL 2023, the management is looking for some more new faces, and Hooda also had a poor IPL for the Lucknow Super Giants.
1. Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Bhuvneshwar Kumar was India’s spearhead in the white-ball format for more than five years. But after the 2022 T20 World Cup, the veteran pacer didn’t get any chance in the Indian squad. He played all six games for India in the tournament, picking up four wickets at an economy of 6.16. Once a main bowler, it seems Bhuvi might not get into the Indian team now. He has played 21 Tests, 121 ODIs, and 87 T20Is, picking up 63, 141, and 90 wickets for India.
