India has to better manage the players from now on. This will avoid injuries and also, the best players can represent the nation in that particular format. Hence, a lot of changes could happen to the ODI squad after the 2023 ODI WC.

1) Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami is an asset for Team India, especially in Tests. India will have some tough Test assignments in the next year and to tackle this, they would require Shami to be at his best, both from a fitness and form perspective. To make this happen, he might be relieved of his duties in the white-ball format. There are players like Prasidh Krishna who are waiting to replace Shami and hence, the Bengal man could be left out.

2) Shardul Thakur

Shardul Thakur is one of the Indians who could be surprisingly dropped after the 2023 ODI World Cup. Yes, Shardul is one of India’s best ODI pacers in recent times but at times, he fails to provide what’s needed for the team. With the bat, he can be very inconsistent and this does not make him a reliable No.8. With the ball, barring his variations with the finger, there is not much he offers. Considering these factors, India might focus on someone with more pace and ability to hit the deck.

3) Ravindra Jadeja

Jadeja is also a player who can be injury-prone. Just as Shami, he is also needed for India in Tests. Also, the men in blue anyways have a superb replacement in the form of Axar Patel. To prolong Jaddu’s career with the red-ball, India might be forced to leave him out of the ODI squad.
