It will be interesting to see India’s selection for the Champions Trophy squad. Here, we take a look at the list of three Indians who could unfortunately miss out on the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy squad.
Surprises are surely in store for the fans. It is a critical event for Team India to win. This is mainly because India has not won a 50-over event in a while now.
1) Mohammed Shami
Shami’s fitness will be the biggest concern for the team. With Jasprit Bumrah also suffering similar issues, India cannot afford to have two such players on the squad. Therefore, unless Shami makes a great recovery in time, it is unlikely that India will pick him for the mega-event that will be hosted by Pakistan.
2) Sanju Samson could miss India’s Champions Trophy squad
Sanju Samson is one of the Indians who could unfortunately miss out on the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy squad. The selectors would surely pick Yashasvi Jaiswal in the squad. That leaves one spot less for a batter. And KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant are undroppable for the selectors. Therefore, Sanju Samson will have to miss out on the ICC event.
3) Washington Sundar
Washington Sundar‘s bowling skills are firmly on the rise. However, Gautam Gambhir could prefer Varun CV in the squad, despite the KKR man’s less experience in the ODI format. Also, it is difficult to drop either of Ravindra Jadeja or Axar Patel. Hence, Sundar could unfortunately miss out on the squad.
