The record for the most runs in a single World Cup edition is registered under the name of Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar. He made 673 runs in 11 games during the 2003 edition, when India reached the finals. Virat Kohli has already made 594 runs in nine games so far and needs only 80 runs to go past that record. If he can do that, he will score the most runs in a single edition of the World Cup.

Sachin and Shakib Al Hasan jointly held the record for most 50-plus scores in a single World Cup edition. In 2003, Sachin registered one hundred and six half-centuries, while in 2019, Shakib made two centuries and five half-centuries. With two hundred and five fifties, Virat has already equaled that record in the World Cup 2023; if he can reach a fifty in the semi-final, he will register the most 50-plus scores in a single World Cup tournament.
