Indian cricket fans generally criticize the selectors because they prefer the performances of IPL while selecting the Indian team. Those fans must note that several non-Indian players have also been selected in their respective teams at the international level after they performed well in the T20 leagues.

The selectors of teams outside India also follow the T20 leagues closely. They know that the pressure is at the next level when playing in top leagues, which is why they reward the best performers with national call-ups. Here’s a list of three such non-Indian players.

    1. One of the top non-Indian players – Jofra Archer

Jofra Archer played for West Indies in U-19 World Cup. He then decided to move to England but to prove himself as a match-winner, he turned up for Hobart Hurricanes in BBL and Rajasthan Royals in IPL. Looking at his performances in T20 leagues, England picked Archer in the squad as soon as he became eligible to play for them.

    2. Spencer Johnson

If you don’t know about Spencer Johnson yet, the left-arm fast bowler will impress you with his left-arm pace really soon. Johnson has turned heads with his express pace in Big Bash League, Global T20 Canada and Major League Cricket. Most recently, he debuted for The Oval Invincibles in Men’s Hundred 2023 and took 3/1 in 20 balls against Jos Buttler’s Manchester Originals.

Johnson has earned a call-up to the Australian squad for the upcoming T20I series against South Africa. He will likely debut under Mitchell Marsh’s captaincy.

    3. Tim David

Tim David was a Singapore player initially, but now he represents Australia. David’s magnificent performances in T20 leagues helped him knock the door of the Australian selectors. He made his T20I debut last year and was also a part of T20 World Cup in Australia.
