India’s ODI World Cup squad is set to be selected soon. We may not expect the management to hand debut caps in this format within the next few weeks. However, there could be a transition period after that. Many of the performers in the Deodhar Trophy could then get a chance in the Indian Team.

    1) Riyan Parag

After a long time, Riyan Parag appeared in full confidence in the Deodhar Trophy. He scored runs under pressure and also did well with the ball to pick up a few wickets. Considering he is still young, Parag is one player whom India must groom. He bats at a difficult spot in the batting order and if Parag can further develop his act, he could go on to become a fine player for India.

    2) Vidwath Kaverappa

Kaverappa is one of the performers from the Deodhar Trophy who could play for the Indian ODI Team soon. The Karnataka speedster has been in fine form ever since he made his debut at the domestic level. Even in the Deodhar Trophy, he succeeded in collecting wickets at regular intervals. Especially in South Zone’s first game against North Zone, he was in terrific form and the opposition batters had no answers for him. India could move on from the likes of Mohammed Shami after ODI World Cup. Hence, Kaverappa could have his chance.

    3) Nitish Rana

Nitish Rana is one player who has improved his game in recent times. In the Deodhar Trophy, he brought out an all-round performance to help his side. Although the performances were not headline-worthy, the impact was there from Rana. India might need some multi-dimensional cricketers in the future and Rana is an option in this regard.
