Chennai Super Kings finished 10th in IPL 2025. It is the first time that they have done so poorly in the IPL. A few difficult decisions will have to be made. Here, we take a look at the list of three players CSK must retain, although they warmed the bench in IPL 2025.
A lot of players will have to move out of CSK. That said, a few cricketers could get another chance by the management. It is mainly because of the potential they possess.
1) Nathan Ellis
Despite Matheesha Pathirana’s poor form, it is surprising that Ellis did not get a lot of games. However, he is an exceptional talent and it would be brilliant to have him as the second overseas pacer. CSK will surely convince Ellis to stay in the squad although the Aussie will easily get to play 14 matches in another franchise.
2) CSK might retain Vansh Bedi after IPL 2025
If not for his injury, Vansh Bedi could have played a game or two in IPL 2025. He is a highly talented cricketer and did well in the Delhi Premier League. Vansh bats in the middle order and is a reliable wicket-keeper. Considering his age, as well, CSK will have a plan for him and therefore, he could still be in the squad.
3) Gurjapneet Singh
Gurjapneet Singh was injured and hence, he was ruled out of IPL 2025. Even before his injury, he did not get a game. Nevertheless, the franchise should retain the highly-rated Tamil Nadu pacer. He has a lot of potential and will be a fine backup for K Khaleel Ahmed in the coming seasons.
