Delhi Capitals are former runners-up of the Indian Premier League. Despite being a part of every edition of the IPL played so far, the Delhi-based franchise have never won the championship. Their only final appearance came in the year 2020 under Shreyas Iyer’s leadership.

However, in 2022, DC released Iyer before the IPL Mega Auction. The whole team underwent a massive change because of the mega auction rules. Now, a similar mega auction has been confirmed to take place in the year 2025.

As per a statement by BCCI’s official, each team will have permission to retain a maximum of three to four players only. Here’s a look at the three players Delhi Capitals might retain before IPL 2025 Mega Auction.

    1. Delhi Capitals will retain Rishabh Pant

Wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant will make his much-awaited return to the cricket field in IPL 2024. Pant has been elected as the DC skipper once again. Since Pant has been the face of the Delhi franchise in the last few seasons, the team owners would like to continue their association with the southpaw.

    2. Axar Patel

Axar Patel was the vice-captain of DC in IPL 2023. He has been one of the most underrated Indian all-rounders in the IPL. Not only Axar can keep a check on the run-flow with his left-arm spin, but he can also whack some nasty blows with the bat.

    3. Mitchell Marsh

Mitchell Marsh has become Australia’s T20I captain now. The all-rounder has been in phenomenal form in recent years. With Ricky Ponting present in the DC backroom staff as the assistant coach, Marsh may continue to don the red and blue colors in IPL 2025 as well.
