Retention before a mega-auction is a serious decision to take. This would have a serious impact on the future of the franchise. Hence, the management will have to be aware of the decisions they take.
1) Pat Cummins
Now that SRH has appointed Pat Cummins as their skipper, it will be a surprise if they do not decide to build their future squad around him. He is an experienced player and offers value as a bowling all-rounder and a skipper. Therefore, despite having seen just one year of him, they could still retain him before a mega-auction.
2) Daryl Mitchell could be retained before IPL 2025 Mega Auctions
Daryl Mitchell is one of the players signed in IPL 2024 Auctions but could be retained before IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. Last time, before a mega-auction, CSK retained Moeen Ali although he had spent only a few years at the franchise. Daryl Mitchell is a quality cricketer and with his all-round skills on offer, CSK could consider retaining him.
