Team India’s squad for the upcoming West Indies Home Test series has been announced. The games will start on October 2nd. It will be an important series for India. They were decent on the tour to England. Hence, to consolidate their form, they must whitewash the West Indies. Here, we take a look at the list of three players unlucky to miss the Indian squad for the West Indies Test series. Before that, here is a look at the squad.

India’s squad: Shubman Gill (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Devdutt Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel, Ravindra Jadeja (VC), Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Mohd Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Kuldeep Yadav and N Jagadeesan.

    1) Ishan Kishan

In Rishabh Pant‘s absence, a like-for-like replacement would have been Ishan Kishan. Ishan has played for India in Tests, and he was decent. Dhruv Jurel will surely take up the spot in the middle-order, but as a backup, instead of N Jagadeesan, who is an opener, Ishan would have been a better fit. It will be interesting to see how India plays without Pant in the middle order.

    2) Akash Deep is not a part of the squad for the West Indies Test series

In Indian conditions, Akash is a better bet in the bowling department. However, he will play in the Irani Cup, and Bumrah, Siraj, and Prasidh will play for India. Bumrah’s workload could have been managed, and Prasidh’s form in India has not been great for him to get a spot. Akash offers better value with the new ball, and he can also be groomed as a bowling all-rounder.

    3) Sarfaraz Khan

Sarfaraz Khan has scored tons of runs at the domestic level. He is also very fit now. Yes, he might have failed against New Zealand, but considering his prolific record, he deserved a run in the middle-order. The Mumbai batter will now look to score more runs and secure a spot again.
