Team India’s squad for the upcoming Sri Lanka series is announced. Here, we take a look at the list of three players who did well against South Africa in the previous ODI series but are now dropped. But before that, here is a look at the ODI squad:
ODI Squad: Rohit Sharma (C), Ꮪhubman Gill (VC), Virat Kohli, KL Rahul (WK), Rishabh Pant (WK), Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh, Riyan Parag, Axar Patel, Khaleel Ahmed, Harshit Rana
1) B Sai Sudharsan
Sai was the second-highest run-getter in that series against South Africa. Despite it being his debut series, he did well in the tough conditions in South Africa. Yet, he did not find a place in the squad against Sri Lanka. Considering India did not select a backup opener, it would have been ideal to have him in the team.
2) Sanju Samson is one of the players dropped for the Sri Lanka ODI series
It needs to be noted that in the last ODI game that he played, Sanju scored a century. Hence, it is a bit shocking that he did not find a place in the ODI squad. Considering Hardik Pandya is not there, he would have been ideal to be a part of the lower middle-order to finish games. However, he is not in the ODI squad but will be a part of the T20I Team.
3) Avesh Khan
Avesh Khan is one of the players who did well against South Africa in the previous ODI series but is now dropped. With six wickets to his name, he was one of the highest wicket-takers in South Africa. However, Harshit Rana has been given his first chance in the ODI setup. Gautam Gambhir could have considered Avesh at least for the ODI setup.
