However, not everyone has got the opportunity to lead the team. On the other side, there have been players who captained both India U-19 and Indian senior team.

The India U-19 team is the one plays Youth ODI matches, whereas the Indian senior team plays international cricket without any age restrictions. In this article, we will look at three players who have led both India U-19 and Indian senior team.

1. Ravi Shastri

Former Indian all-rounder Ravi Shastri was the first player to lead India at the U-19 level. He lost that match as captain in 1981. Then, in 1987-88, Shastri led the Indian senior team in a Test match and the team emerged victorious in that game.

Shastri also captained the senior team in ODI matches. Unlike the Test format, Shastri got the chance to captain the Indian side in multiple one-dayers.

2. Rahul Dravid

Current Indian head coach Rahul Dravid has achieved a unique feat in his career. He has been the captain of the U-19 and senior team. Also, he has worked as a head coach for both teams.

Dravid captained the India U-19s in three matches during the year 1992. The India U-19 team won two matches and lost one.

3. Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli came into the limelight after he inspired the Indian U-19 team to the 2008 U-19 World Cup title in Malaysia. Soon after, he became a member of the senior team, and in 2014, Virat made his Test captaincy debut against the Australian cricket team at Adelaide Oval.

He is the only former India U-19 captain to have led the senior team in all three formats of international cricket.
