With a century in the Ranji Trophy final, Karun Nair has more or less confirmed himself a spot in the Indian Test Team. Here, we take a look at the list of three players who might lose their spot if Karun Nair is selected for the England Tour.
A few players could go under the axe if Karun Nair is in the squad. It will be unlucky for these players, but Karun is in excellent touch, and it is best to make use of his current form.
1) Sarfaraz Khan
Sarfaraz Khan did not play a single game in England despite the batting unit’s struggles. This shows the confidence of the management in his skills at SENA venues. Therefore, Sarfaraz might have to miss out for the Tour of England. Unless he plays in the County and proves himself, there is not a big chance for him.
2) Devdutt Padikkal might miss the England Tour if Karun Nair is in the squad
Devdutt Padikkal is one of the players who might lose their spot if Karun Nair is selected for the England Tour. DDP played at No.3 in Australia. Shubman Gill is back to form and the management will trust him to replicate in the Test format. Karun Nair can be a backup for No.4 and therefore, DDP could be replaced by Karun. Unless the management wants a left-handed backup option, Devdutt does not have a chance.
3) Dhruv Jurel
KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant are undroppable for the England Tour. Both will also be a part of the playing XI. Now that KL Rahul can handle himself behind the stumps if required, India might not have a backup keeper. Therefore, Dhruv Jurel might miss out. It is unfortunate for him but it is this way in the Indian squad, where the competition is intense.
