BCCI named the squad for the 2023 ODI World Cup on Tuesday. As expected, there were a lot of opinions about the same on social media and also off it. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three talented players whom India might miss at the 2023 ODI World Cup.

At the outset, it appears that India might have missed a few bowling types. However, it may not be a very costly mistake as India can always name a quick replacement considering the tournament is happening in India.

    1) R Ashwin

India does not have a right-arm off-spinner in the squad. Hence, the team would be at a disadvantage in many matchups during the tournament. Apart from his experience as a spinner, Ashwin would have also brought a lot to the table as a batter. India’s batting depth problems would have been solved with Ashwin at No.8.

    2) Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal is one of the players whom India might miss at the 2023 ODI World Cup. India cannot afford to have the Chahal-Kuldeep partnership in the middle-overs. This partnership has the ability to win matches during this phase. Yes, Chahal may be expensive but he picks wickets consistently. This will be missed, especially if Kuldeep is out of form or is injured.

    3) Arshdeep Singh

India surprisingly does not have a left-arm pacer in the ranks for the 2023 ODI WC. Almost every team has one, considering many batters have a weakness against this bowling type. Arshdeep Singh is slowly becoming an all-phase pacer. He would have been a good fit to this pace attack and would have brought tremendous balance. Missing a left-arm pacer is a big decision and India will hope that it does not come back to bite them.
